Back of Beyond is a peaceful touring, camping and glamping park just for adults (over 18). Located on the Hampshire-Dorset border, it's ideal for exploring the New Forest, Bournemouth and Poole, the Jurassic coast and the scenic countryside of Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire.
Most of this 30-acre, dog-friendly site is natural woodland and there's a vast area for dogs to explore off the lead. There are two wildlife lakes within a designated conservation site of special scientific interest which is bordered by a river. Within this area is a beautiful woodland glade for wild camping (sorry no dogs in this area).
Most pitches measure at least 10 metres by 10 metres and 80 have electric hookups of 10 amps. All the marked pitches are dog friendly. There are 48 pitches with a hardstanding surface and 20 of these will be fully serviced in 2021. Some grass pitches have invisible matting to provide an all-weather surface.
Glamping is available in shepherd huts, a luxury yurt tent or wooden pods and lodges. Every glamping unit has its own deck with a covered outdoor camping kitchen and furniture. Some units are dog friendly and some have real wood burners inside. (All glampers need to use the shared bathroom facilities.)
There's a small licensed shop in reception selling local produce and honey from onsite beehives. An outdoor pop-up bar opens in the early evening several nights a week and cooked food vendors visit in the summer months. Guests can also hire fire pits from reception and order freshly cooked pastries for the morning.
The spacious shower and toilet blocks have been refurbished to a high standard and there's also a disabled suite. Amenities include indoor and outdoor washing up areas, a laundry room, a dog wash, a charging station, freezers for ice packs and waste disposal points.
Within walking distance of Back of Beyond are a pub serving food, a country park and a family holiday park. The local town, Ringwood, is a bustling New Forest market town within 10 minutes' drive and there are several country parks nearby.
A major cycle route along an old railway line from Ringwood to Poole runs near Back of Beyond. The local country parks and New Forest offer miles of off-road cycling tracks.
The local area offers a vast choice of places to visit within an hour's drive. Whether you're interested in quaint New Forest villages, historic seaside towns, ancient fortifications, wonderful gardens or natural beauty spots, there's something for everyone. Historic cities in the area are Portsmouth with its Historic Dockyard, Winchester, Salisbury and Southampton. Local beauty spots include Cranborne Chase AONB and the Purbeck Hills. The National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, Monkey World and Corfe Castle are among the major attractions, along with picturesque harbours, traditional seaside towns, some of the country's best beaches along the scenic coastline.
Committed to conservation and sustainability, Back of Beyond has undertaken extensive planting of native species to encourage wildlife and biodiversity. The owners have also installed solar panels, rainwater collection systems and solar lights around the park.
This family run park has won numerous awards including 'Best Green Site' 2020 and 'Best Site in Dorset' 2020' (Practical Caravanan / Practical Motorhome Top 100), plus a special conservation award under the Bellamy Parks scheme. It has also been awarded the Trip Advisor 2020 Travellers' Choice award and was recently upgraded to AA 5 pennants gold.
