Kelham Hall & Country Park Campsite is located in a scenic part of Nottinghamshire, just a short drive from Newark-on-Trent. It offers family friendly camping and caravanning facilities within the country park of the former Victorian mansion and is an ideal base for those who are looking for an enjoyable and relaxing breakaway.
At our camping and caravanning site, we welcome tents, tourers and motorhomes. There are good size pitches and a well maintained shower and loo block. The campsite office sells drinks, ice cream and vending machine snacks; if you're not eating at the hall, a pub serving food is just outside the campsite gates.
There are nature trails for children, a playground, a riverside meadow to wander in, loads of space for ball games, and yet more places for private picnics or sitting and watching the wildlife. Fishing and tennis are both available on site for an extra charge, as is a trailer tour around the 44 acre estate's woodland, riverside meadow, sculpted gardens and secret monks' graveyard.
Entrance is free to the hall itself and there is a bar and restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as Sunday roasts, but we reckon we'd spend most of our time at Kelham roaming around the acres of landscaped grounds, woodland walks and pretty paths along the River Trent.
The nearby market town of Newark-on-Trent is well worth a visit with its dramatic castle and two museums.
