Chleire Haven is a glamping site, located on Irelands most southerly, Irish speaking inhabited island on Oileán Chléire (Cape Clear Island). We are 8 miles of the west coast of Co Cork near Skibbereen and are an ideal base for those who want a relaxing camping/glamping break. We meet the ferries and pick up your camping gear and bags for you, so you can relax from the moment you land on the island. Just phone or email before you come to book a pitch.
You have a choice for your holiday accommodation, all exciting in their own right and very different, the choice is yours. You can stay in one of our luxury yurts or our stylish bell tents. Alternatively, you could bring your own tent, but check beforehand as we only have limited pitches available. Our yurts are well equipped and include:
Fresh linen with cosy duvets and pillows for up to 4 people on a double bed or on the single beds.
Small, fully equipped kitchen.
Fire extinguisher and blanket.
Solar heated hot water.
Wet room showers.
On entering your yurt or bell tent, instead of turning your back on nature outside, you will become closer to it, sheltered in your canvas cocoon. We supply mats, you bring your own sleeping bag/bedding. Rugs, mats and cushions are in your bell tent.
For those of you craving a bit of adrenaline, why not book snorkelling, kayaking, sea and rock fishing, or diving to the many wrecks surrounding the island. It is always best to pre-book these before you come. Going on a whale and dolphin watching trip, with seals, sharks, even leatherback turtles is a must for those wanting a sea adventure. April and October are rare bird spotting times, as Cape Clear is on the migration paths. Visit in May for all the glorious wild flowers and a bit of basking shark spotting. June, the quiet start of summer, perfect for loving couples and sunny days. July for the warmth of the summer when the island is in full swing. August sees the regatta, filling the small harbours to bursting point. September brings the magical International Storytelling Festival all over the island, with guests from around the world. October to March bring tranquillity to the island once more, with fewer visitors but still a warm welcome for those wanting to get away from it all.
