Wheems Holiday Accommodation offers 20 pitches for tents, 10 pitches for motorhomes and camper vans as well as 4 glamping pods located 3 miles to the village of St Margaret's Hope in Orkney.
For those travelling light or requiring more substantial dwellings there are also cosy equipped, solid wooden bothies and a yurt with log fire. The campsite overlooks cliffs and sandy beaches to the south are within a 5 minute walk.
The campsite is in an elevated field with stone dykes looking south and east towards the sea. There are hot showers, toilets and utilities including washing machine and drying line. We also have an equipped covered kitchen area and glass fronted dining area for all guests.
Camping Bothies: These are small (2.69m x 1.98m) wooden structures designed and built on the farm resembling the traditional upturned boat shelter offer lined and insulated accommodation with heating and lights. Cabin/bothy guests share kitchen and loos with campers.
Yurt: Wheems Kyrgystani Yurt is provided with bedding, blankets, towels, candles, lamps, log fire and firewood for your stay. Please note there is NO ELECTRICITY. The yurt is a wonderful adventure for those who will enjoy lighting a fire every evening. Wheens is an organic farm with fresh produce available to buy on the campsite and organic dried products. Beautiful sea vies can be enjoyed from the yurt so do chock the door open during the day to gain the full benefit of the view. The yurt is a Kyrgystani design made in the UK for a UK summer climate. It is not available for rent over winter due to high winds in Orkney.
Wheems Campervan: This converted VW Transporter is perfect for travelling around the island and living in it during your stay or living in it at Wheems on the campsite. It is equipped with a kitchen that you can use inside or remove to use outside. It has a comfortable double bed. It is fully equip with all cooking utensils and crockery. Please have your own car insurance. Guests have access to a shared kitchen - cooking facilities & crockery (if needed although you have your own kitchen in the van), shared toilets and showers, shared fridge and freezer and a shared dining area.
Wheems Bell Tents: These are 4m (13.1ft) diameter and unfurnished except for futon mattresses; bedding is available by request if you don't have sleeping bags.
