The Orchards, Winner of the AA South East Campsite of the Year and the Top 100 sites overall winner for 2015 and 2016, is a AA 5 Pennant Park located in Newbridge, a small village in the West Wight, amid some of the most spectacular scenery and close to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The park is a member of The Best of British and has won 18 Gold David Bellamy awards for its efforts in conservation. It has also won a platinum award from Loo of the Year.
The Park is ideally situated for accessing the beautiful beaches on the Jurassic coastline, great for fossil exploring and is a must for those who enjoy the natural landscape. There are many routes from the park for walkers and cyclists, varying from an evening stroll to a day of exploration. The No 7 bus service runs past the site entrance on an hourly basis and this takes you to Newport or Yarmouth where you can change buses to get to other parts of the Island. At Ningwood (one mile away from the park), you can join the Island Coaster bus as it makes its journey around the island. The Coaster is a low floor, easy access double deck bus that enables you to see lovely views, and the converted lower deck allows each bus to carry up to six bikes.
There are 160 pitches, which are marked and allocated, are a mixture of hard standing water serviced, or grass. Most have spectacular views of the beautiful countryside that surrounds the park. There are 64 holiday caravans in a separate area, connected by pathways, with trees and shrubs in between. There are various prices, some are 4 berth, some are 6. All are high specification and fully fitted. Facilities on the park include a heated outdoor pool (open late May to early September), heated indoor swimming pool with coffee shop, takeaway, shop, dog exercise area, games rooms and play areas. Wi-Fi is available throughout the park for a small charge. The park has an impressive Facilities Centre with under-floor heating. The Centre is located centrally within the Park and has received rave reviews from guests. It comprises high quality amenities including shower and wash basin cubicles, ladies vanity area, toilets, family bathroom and shower room, baby changing area, accessible facilities, hikers and bikers drying room, ironing and laundry area, and a spacious indoor washing up area with amazing views.
Yarmouth, the nearest town, is one of the most picturesque and oldest on the Island, with individual shops cafes and art galleries, a busy harbour overlooked by a castle, and a wooden pier ideal for watching boats on The Solent. Freshwater has a large Co-op and is only 10 minutes away.
