Nethergong Nurseries offers camping facilities located in Canterbury, Kent. The campsite is set close to the seaside towns of Whitstable, Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Margate.
Our campsite is set in 26 acres of beautiful woodland and meadows offering you space to relax and unwind. We allow campfires using one of our portable fire pits which we will loan you. We can sell you logs and kindling. Logs will be brought round every afternoon and you can either order them earlier in the day at the Shop or buy them when we deliver them to you. If you have ordered and find you have run out in the evening, a small stock of logs will be left in the lean to outside the polytunnel. You can pay for them in the morning.
We have showers, toilets, washing and clothes washing facilities in the stable and lean-to. Additional toilets, showers, washing up sinks and a chemical disposal point are situated halfway up the site in the old tractor shed drinking water taps are situated to the side of the left-hand stable, over the bridge to the field and outside the tractor shed. Recycling and non-recycling waste bins are by the main gate. Bottles can be left in the box by the recycling bin. If you have any food you want to keep chilled or frozen you can use the fridge/freezers in the washing-up lean-to.
Our small shop stocks essentials and tourist information. The shop and office are located at the end of the office building. Please register in the office when you first arrive.
Our authentic Romany Showman's Wagon has been built by a local Romany to faithfully replicate Wagons used as Showmen travelled from Fair to Fair. The Wagons were slept in, cooked in and lived in although we think that might be a bit of a squash for today's camper so we have provided the Wagon with its own Hut, for indoor cooking, eating and sitting if needed.
The super king size bed in the Wagon does convert back to table and bench seating if you prefer to sit there. It easily sleeps a couple and small child and we can provide a camp bed for additional sleeping in the Hut if needed. It also has a small wood burning stove in it to keep the evenings warm. The Wagon is situated in its own glade at the end of an Avenue of trees and against the riverbank. There is a wonderful view across the valley to the hamlet of Chislet. If you go to YouTube and search for Nethergong you will see a short film of the location.
Two Bell Tents are situated in our main camping field. Both are set back slightly in a copse with plenty of sun and shade. The third tent is situated in a sunny location near our fruit trees. Each tent is set up with a double bed and two single beds (let us know if you need a third single or only one single). All are furnished in Indian style with braided rugs, footstools and Indian bedside tables. Each has an awning for more shade or shelter if needed. We ask for no outdoor shoes in the tent please.
There area variety of activities and things to do at Nethergong throughout the season to cater for all ages and tastes. Some of the activities available include fishing, walking, cycling and canoeing. There are many beaches in the area all offering the perfect place to relax for the day.
