Whitsand Bay Fort

Whitsand Bay Fort is an exclusive historic coastal resort over looking the sandy beaches of Whitsand bay.

The famous beaches of Whitsand Bay with four miles of golden sands, and rockpools with space aplenty for all your water pursuits. The beach is watched over by the RNLI lifeguards all summer.

The local surfing school is located on the beach for surfing lessons for beginners to experts,

South east Cornwall, a hidden gem of the south west, tucked away on the Rame peninsula , just a few miles west of ocean city Plymouth and east of Looe.

The only large resort in the area which remains untouched from a bygone era, for the more discerning visitor looking for room to relax, and soak up those views.

On the Devon and Cornwall border, ideally situated to explore all that the 2 counties has to offer.

Nearby we have the Cornish villages of Kingsand and Cawsand on Plymouth sound, and Mount Edgcumbe Country House and deer park right on your doorstep.

The rocky outcrop you see in the pictures is the Rame Peninsula, which has lovely walks amongst the wildlife, to the 14th century chapel on the headland

The Fort is an original Napoleonic coastal fort, now an important English Heritage Designated Ancient Monument. Explore the original architecture, gun emplacements and tunnels of a Victorian times.

Touring , motor home and camping pitches set within the fort grounds in sheltered enclosures. Serviced hard standing pitches are available.

The Heritage centre courtesy of Hidden Heritage will give you an insight as to the rich military history of the Fort, as well the colourful tales of the local area, including the vibrant smuggling trade. Regular tours of the monument, and spooky ghost tours are also a regular feature.

In and around 'garrison square ' are the shower facilities, toilets , washing up and launderette. Indoor games room and modest outdoor play area. Picnic area and elevated decking area for those sunny days.

Further afield , enjoy the wildlife walk around the fort, with amazing and contrasting views in all directions.
