We are based on a lovely working dairy and sheep farm. On a clear day, you can savour spectacular views across three counties. A range of charming glamping pods are available. The pods sleep 4 to 5 people and offer that added bit of luxury compared to the traditional camping experience. Lower Lacon Caravan Park started life as the back entrance of the Aston Park American Army Camp (which was a munitions and distribution depot) built in the 2nd World War, on land compulsory purchased from Clive’s paternal grandfather. When they were developing the area they lost a D8 Bulldozer (it sank in the soil) so the Americans covered most of the Park with hardcore up to a depth of 3 feet, brought from local foundries, (which makes pegging in most places quite difficult). Call at the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre, 10 miles drive from the site, to find out all about him, and to see the Great Oak where he is said to have hidden, and then visit Nottingham to experience a most imaginative audio/visual exhibition called 'The Tales of Robin Hood'.
