We are a small, family-run, quiet site with a total of 50 pitches for caravans, campervans and tents: 30 with electricity and 20 without. We have solar panels and all our electricity is from a renewable source. The site is grassy, well drained, flat and spacious.
We are situated at the edge of a small village in a conservation area of outstanding natural beauty with direct access to forest, river and heathland trails. The coast is very close with Shingle Street beach about 3 miles away and Bawdsey (sandy beach where the River Deben meets the sea) 4 miles away.
There are 3 small toilet/shower blocks with 10 toilets, 5 showers and a disabled-access toilet. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times.
There is an abundance of wildlife around the site including owls, woodpeckers, nightingales, deer and badgers. We also run a small farm with very free-range chickens as well as rare breed goats, pigs & alpacas. Claire takes people ‘animal feeding on Saturdays (and some weekdays in school holidays) at 5pm. See our website for more details.
The Blue Rabbit Cafe is now open at Shottisham Campsite, selling delicious home-grown, home-made breakfasts, brunches and cakes using our own home-reared rare breed sausages, bacon, eggs and other produce. The café is open at the weekends from the end of Massy onwards. We also sell our own sausages, bacon, eggs, homemade jams, firewood and hire out firepits and picnic tables between 6-7pm by the café.
We are family friendly and allow dogs if they are kept on a secure lead while on the site.
A two-minute walk away in the village there is a community-owned 14th century, thatched pub, the Sorrel Horse. It does great beer and good pub food with quiz and live music nights. There is also a children`s playground in the village which can be accessed directly from the campsite.
