Bracken Barns Glamping Site is situated in a valley surrounded by rolling hills, just six miles from the historic town of Ayr. The peaceful setting offers a perfect escape into the countryside, where guests can truly unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. We provide a relaxing and comfortable country glamping experience, whether you are stopping off for just a few nights or planning a longer family break. With a warm and welcoming atmosphere, Bracken Barns is the ideal place to reconnect with nature and create lasting memories.
All our glamping accommodation is designed with comfort and convenience in mind. Each unit features real beds with memory foam mattresses, fresh 100% cotton linen and towels provided. We also supply extra blankets for outdoor use, along with all the necessary cooking and eating utensils. Guests have access to a private wash house with a hot shower and compost loo, as well as a kitchen equipped with a camping stove and washing-up facilities. Solar electricity powers the essentials and to make your stay even more welcoming, we provide a complimentary welcome basket, logs, eco-friendly toiletries and loo roll. Guests are also welcome to use the communal BBQ and fire pit for a true countryside experience.
Meadow Yurt
Meadow is located in its own private garden and set apart from the other units, it offers added privacy, making it an ideal retreat. Planning a holiday can sometimes be challenging when you have a furry family member, but at our site, we have taken steps to make it easier. Our yurts are fenced to help keep dogs safe, and 'Meadow' is particularly dog-friendly, making it a great option for those travelling with reactive or nervous pups due to its secluded location. Meadow provides all the comforts needed to keep you snug and feeling at home, including a wood burner, an insulated wash house with a hot shower and compost loo, a fully fitted kitchen and inviting seating areas both inside and out. To add a touch of magic, fairy lights softly illuminate the interior, creating a cosy and charming atmosphere.
Woody Yurt
Our beautiful and cosy Woody yurt is situated in open fields beside a peaceful wooded copse, offering a warm and inviting retreat. Woody is thoughtfully equipped with everything you need to feel snug and at home, featuring its own wood burner, an insulated wash house with a hot shower and compost loo, a fully fitted kitchen and comfortable seating areas both inside and out. Fairy lights add a touch of magic to the interior, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Outside, the patio and communal fire pit provide the perfect spots to relax and enjoy the fresh country air in comfort and warmth. Woody is also surrounded by a secure fence, giving you peace of mind if you’re bringing your pups along. Just a short stroll away, you’ll find the communal BBQ, picnic areas and an additional fire pit for even more outdoor enjoyment.
The Bru Bus - Available from July 2025
Once completed, our bus will offer a fun and comfortable space for families and groups of friends to relax and unwind. Situated in our glamping field, it enjoys beautiful views of rolling hills, clusters of trees and the occasional visit from a herd of goats or some nosey chickens. The upper deck features three bedrooms: a master bedroom, a bunk bed room and a single room with a pull-out bed, making it ideal for teenagers. Downstairs, you'll find a spacious kitchen equipped with everything needed to cook and store food, two booth tables for dining or playing games and a lounge and TV area with an L-shaped sofa, perfect for snuggling up after a day of exploring South Ayrshire or simply relaxing with a good book. The emergency exit leads to a private bathroom with a hot shower, compost loo and basin. The Bru Bus is fitted with central heating and includes its own fire pit area, patio and an indoor porch to store wet gear. Cyclists are also catered for, with a secure spot to lock up bikes next to the old cattle crush.
Bracken Barns is an eco-friendly site and as a result, our electricity and WiFi can occasionally be a little unreliable.
Optional Extras
To make your stay even more special, we offer bespoke hampers in large or small sizes, perfect for seasonal treats or special occasions, as well as luxurious robes for added comfort. Guests can also enjoy Scottish breakfast packs, with vegetarian options available, to start the day right. For those looking to truly unwind, we have an on-site massage therapist and a wood-fired sauna, creating the perfect opportunities for relaxation during your stay. Our on-site massage therapist, Kerrie Chinn, is here to soothe your aches and pains from head to toe with her outstanding massage skills and offers a variety of treatments that you can also book.
Visiting the Area
Ayrshire is a beautiful county full of places to visit and explore and Bracken Barns Glamping is perfectly situated to make the most of it. We are close to many historical sites, including Alloway, the birthplace of Robert Burns and the stunning Culzean Castle. There are also plenty of beaches, scenic hill walks, charming villages and welcoming locals ready to make you feel at home.
