Description

At The Darling Woods of May, you can experience luxury woodland retreats, glamping, camping and unforgettable alpaca adventures on our working alpaca farm in East Yorkshire. Spanning over 12 acres of open meadows and woodland, our peaceful setting is located on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds, just a 10-minute drive from Pocklington and 20 minutes from the historic city of York.

Glamping

Our award-winning glamping retreats are situated within woodland and surrounded by wildflower meadows, offering an adults-only, secluded escape that's perfect for a romantic getaway. Each retreat is thoughtfully designed with comfort in mind, featuring a cosy log-burning stove, a king-size bed with luxurious bedding and a well-equipped kitchenette. Outdoors, guests can cook over a fire pit, unwind in a private wood-fired hot tub, swing beneath the trees, or dine under fairy lights at an outdoor table and chairs. The retreats also include a modern bathroom with a toilet, sink and rainfall shower, providing all the comforts of home in a tranquil, rural setting.

Camping

For those looking for a more traditional outdoor experience, our campsite offers a peaceful escape into sustainably managed countryside. Off-grid pitches are carefully mown into long grass or situated within the woodland to ensure a wild, secluded camping feel. The site is intentionally low-capacity, with a maximum of seven pitches, preserving its quiet, spacious atmosphere. Facilities include two clean toilets, a hot rainfall shower and a washing-up area with three sinks. There's no Wi-Fi or electricity on the campsite, evoking a nostalgic 90s holiday vibe, but guests can enjoy a large communal swing and explore the woodland walks or visit our friendly resident alpacas. Campfires are welcome, adding to the authentic camping experience and the surrounding open farmland offers dark skies perfect for stargazing. Any BBQ's should be off the ground.

Please note that The Darling Woods of May is a quiet, peaceful site, best suited to those seeking tranquillity rather than loud music or busy entertainment.

We've been honoured with the Pitch Up Review Awards in both 2023 and 2024 and received the LLT New Business Tourism Silver Award in 2024. We're also proud Super Hosts on Airbnb, ranked among the top 5% of holiday homes and listed as a guest favourite.

The glamping pods are available all year round and the camping is available from the 1st of May to the 30th of September (weather permitting, open dates may vary, please check).

Our Alpaca's

Our alpaca farm is open year-round and offers four unique experiences suitable for all ages. Visitors can join a group walk, enjoy a private plod through the countryside, take part in an alpaca meet-and-greet, or simply relax with prosecco by the paddock. Tickets for these experiences must be booked online in advance.

Whether you're glamping, camping, or coming to meet the alpacas, The Darling Woods of May offers a peaceful escape into nature, full of charm, comfort, and unforgettable memories.
