Located in the beautiful county of Yorkshire, Catgill Farm is a family run business that offers camping and luxury glamping experiences. They have a spacious camping field with EHU and pristine facilities, as well as their six luxury timber pods and two magical canvas bell tents. Their glamping experiences include private log fuelled hot tubs, fire pits, and pizza ovens. There is also an on-site coffee shop where you can grab a coffee and croissant! This prime Yorkshire Dales location provides some of the most incredible views and an array of things to do nearby, Catgill is a firm favourite with their visitors. Since opening in 2014, they have been included in The Telegraph newspapers list of “Britain’s Top 5 Coolest Campsites”.
If you love sleeping underneath the stars but prefer a taste of luxury, then the glamping experience at Catgill Farm is designed with you in mind. Both the timber pods and bell tents are filled with intricate details, each as unique as the Woodland animals they are named after – Hedgehog, Dragonfly, Owl, Stag, Pheasant, Duck, Fox and Hare. Designed to maximise the views, outside space, and privacy of guests, each timber pod or bell tent gives the illusion that you’re almost totally secluded in your own corner of the Yorkshire Dales. Guests who are glamping at Catgill will have plenty to do whilst they let their worries float away, whether it be chilling in their private hot tub, reading a book whilst enjoying the spectacular views, or enjoying a family BBQ or homemade pizza around the fire pit/pizza oven.
The timber pods at Catgill were designed by the owner & architect, Oliver. They are much bigger than the majority of glamping pods and are completely bespoke. The pods are fully insulated, have central heating, and are of an extremely high standard. The facilities and equipment within are just as good, if not better than those you’ll find in some of the best holiday cottages. One pod can sleep up to 6 people comfortably. They include a fully equipped kitchen, en-suite bathroom, WiFi, TV with Netflix, sofa, dining table and cabin style bunk beds that the kids will adore. As the evening draws in, dim the lights to create a soothing atmosphere where you can unwind with your loved ones.
Catgill has two giant luxury bell tents for guests who want a glamping retreat under canvas experience. The bell tents are fitted out to the highest standard and share their own private outdoor toilet and shower. With plenty of storage, cooking equipment, a sink with running water, electric and WiFi and hot water bottles, the Catgill bell tents have everything you need and more. These beautiful 4 person bell tents create a magical feel with fairy lights over a large driftwood bed, futons for the kids and on those chilly nights enjoy warming yourself around a toasty log burner and heater. This is glamping at its best, all the excitement of camping with your creature comforts thrown in, creating an enchanting experience for the whole family.
At Catgill’s dog friendly campsite, you can choose between camping with EHU and non-EHU pitches, and don’t worry – they are all just a short distance away from their 5* facilities which include a large toilet and shower block with plenty of hot water to go around. The kitchen & washing up area includes plenty of preparation space, charge points, plus three communal fridge freezers where you can label and store your food. If you don’t book an EHU pitch, you can choose your own favourite spot to pitch your tent when you arrive. For a warm and cosy camping experience, why not hire a fire pit from reception to light up the evenings whilst you toast marshmallows or enjoy a family BBQ! On arrival you will be welcomed to Catgill with open arms by the friendly staff who are always happy to help you make memories you’ll treasure.
Located right in the heart of Yorkshire, it doesn’t get much better than this! You can forget the car as soon as you arrive, as there is just so much to do right on the doorstep. Bolton Abbey Estate is just a 15 minute walk away and has tea rooms, a visitor shop and of course the famous 12th century ruins of the Priory by the meandering River Wharfe. Feeling brave? Try crossing the river using the historic stepping stones, or just while away the day on the sandy beach watching the children (and dogs) paddling in the river. Hesketh Farm is literally on the doorstep offering tractor tours, animal feeding and much more. The Devonshire Arms pub is a short 10 minute walk across the fields and serves good food and local ales. Billy Bob’s Ice Cream Parlour is popular for the American Diner favourites – hot dogs, chilly dogs & handmade burgers, or treat yourself to a delicious Yorkshire Dales ice-cream whilst the kids run wild in the play barn. Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway is just over the hill with the route meandering through the Yorkshire hills to Embsay where the Cavendish Arms is a pit stop well worth considering.
Close to the Dalesway footpath and on the famous Tour de Yorkshire route, Catgill has much to offer for walkers and cyclists along with many local attractions for families. There are many stunning market towns and villages within easy reach such as Skipton, Ilkley and Grassington, all with a variety of friendly pubs, award winning restaurants, cosy coffee shops and many local seasonal events. Catgill is a perfect location for either an action packed family holiday or a magical and relaxing break.
