Castlerigg Hall Caravan & Camping Park is less than 2 miles from the centre of Keswick, at Castlerigg in Cumbria. Our park is a fantastic base for those who are looking to explore the Lake District National Park.
The park is in an elevated position and enjoys exceptional panoramic views of Derwentwater & Bassenthwaite Lake set against a dramatic backdrop of the surrounding fells. Onsite, guests can choose from a touring/motorhome pitch, camping pod or holiday home:
Touring & Motorhome
Set on mainly level terraces our touring pitches vary greatly in size and outlook. Some pitches have lake views whilst some are among trees and hedges We offer pitches that are close to the amenities or some which involve an uphill walk from the lower terraces. We have 3 pitch types available:
Hook up only - Hardstanding pitches with electric.
Standard - Fully serviced pitch with a water tap, drain for grey waste and electric.
Superior - As per the standard but with a lakeside view. They also have a picnic bench.
Perfect for those who want to enjoy a lakeside setting, whilst having homely conveniences. Amenities include:
A flat-screen TV with Freesat.
Guests will need to bring their own towels and tea towels.
They are very popular and allow guests to enjoy a camping experience without the hassle of putting up a tent. Guests have a choice of 3 different pods:
Inspire Pod - Tastefully furnished and ideal for those who are looking for a bit more comfort. They include a double patio, large wooden deck with seating, bed, sofa, large flat-screen TV, kettle, toaster and shower room with WC. Bedding is provided.
Castle Pods - Perfect for a family, they can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children. They feature a double bed and a bunk bed, heater, lights, two twin electric sockets with USB charging points, picnic bench and decking area. All linen and bedding needs to be brought by guests.
Standard & Family Pods - These small timber huts feature a wraparound roof, well insulated with sheep’s wool in the walls, and with a special foil layer under the tiles to help keep summer temperatures in check. There are good head height and plenty of light from the double-glazed lockable french doors which, together with a small high rear window, provide a good through draft. Also provided is an electric socket, heater and lighting. These units do not have beds and you would bring all the necessities of camping minus the tent.
The campground is sheltered and has both sloping and level areas. Views are available of lakes and fells from some areas of the field but not all. Cars may be parked close to the tent depending on ground conditions. Sorry but no electric hook-up points are available for camping.
The “Campers Kitchen” provides guests with an indoor heated amenity in which to prepare meals. Equipped with Seating, washing up basins, twin hobs, microwave, (both 50p tokens) and free use of toasters and kettle. Ice pack freezing and Wifi are available at no charge.
Castlerigg’s reception has an abundance of information for visitors to the Lake District, with maps, books, postcard, leaflets – and always plenty of helpful advice at hand from the proprietors. So just sit down for a while and plan your itinerary!
You will never be short of things to keep you occupied during your stay. So whether you are exploring the area on foot, bike, car or boat there is plenty to see and do. We are lucky to be in an area of truly breathtaking scenery as well as numerous attractions that the whole family can enjoy.
