Siskin and Coll Cabins offer a peaceful, eco-friendly retreat situated in The Warren Forest Garden - a permaculture woodland garden on the Black Isle in the Scottish Highlands. These hand-built timber cabins are designed for simple, sustainable living, combining rustic charm with thoughtful, low-impact features. Ideal for eco-conscious travellers, both cabins are off-grid, using solar power for lighting and USB charging and a foot-pump system for fresh water.
Each cabin includes a wood burner with firewood from the surrounding woodland, a private deck with seating and beautiful views over the woods and fields, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring and spotting local wildlife like Red Kites.
Inside, guests will find a double bed, organic cotton bedding and towels, a small en suite bathroom with a compost toilet and bucket shower and a compact kitchen equipped with cooking essentials. Siskin Cabin is cosy and simple, while Coll Cabin is slightly larger, featuring an oven, grill and small 12v fridge/freezer, plus a bench that converts into a workspace. While there’s no Wi-Fi, most networks receive 4G and there are books, games, a radio and a speaker for a screen-free stay. A breakfast hamper of homemade organic produce is available as an optional extra, and garden tours are offered on a pay-what-you-feel basis.
Access is easy via public transport or car, with off-road parking and a short walk through the woodland to the cabins. Bike storage is also available and nearby cycle paths and bus routes make car-free travel simple. The location is perfect for visitors exploring the North Coast 500 or those who prefer to slow down and discover the Black Isle’s tranquil villages, coastal scenery and abundant nature. With nearby towns like Inverness and Dingwall offering additional amenities and transport links, Siskin and Coll Cabins provide an ideal base for a peaceful, sustainable Highland escape.
