Description

Bonchester Bridge Riverside Park is a peaceful caravan and camping site located in the heart of the Scottish Borders. Situated within the charming village of Bonchester Bridge, this scenic park is the perfect escape for those looking to adventure, explore or simply relax and unwind. Surrounded by a beautiful mix of woodland and open glades that stretch along the banks of the Rule Water, the park is rich in natural beauty. The river itself is home to trout, salmon and a variety of wildlife, including otters and herons, creating a tranquil, nature-filled setting.

The site offers a mix of grass and hard standing pitches, some with electric hook-up, all of which are generously sized and suitable for tents, trailer tents, roof tents, motorhomes, campervans and tourers. While mobile signal is limited, EE being the most reliable, it presents a great opportunity to unplug and enjoy a true break from technology. The peaceful atmosphere of the campsite is only interrupted by the sounds of birdsong and the nearby river.

Facilities include a recently refurbished toilet and shower block, which also houses a sluice and a small kitchen area equipped with a washing machine, tumble dryer, sink for dishes, microwave and charging points for personal devices.

Families and pets are welcome at the park. There’s a designated recreation field where ball games are permitted, while the village itself offers a children’s play park and a football pitch. For dog owners, a scenic wooded walk begins right from the site and numerous walking trails surround the village, offering plenty of opportunities to explore the surrounding countryside.

At Bonnie Park, the focus is on reconnecting with nature and enjoying life’s simpler pleasures. There are no bars, clubs, or restaurants on site, just the sound of the river and the calls of owls and bats at night. However, a friendly village inn serving food and drinks is conveniently located next door. Visitors seeking a quiet retreat will find no late-night parties here, only the calm of the great outdoors.

During your stay, take time to discover the region’s rich history and folklore. The Scottish Borders are steeped in stories of ancient clans and reivers - fierce horsemen who once rode these lands to defend or claim territory. Walk in their footsteps, feel the history underfoot and let the legends of the past come alive in the stillness of the present. There is plenty to see and do in the area, including:

Hawick Museum.
Hermitage Castle.
Textile Towerhouse.
Philiphaugh Salmon Viewing Centre.
Jedburgh Castle Jail and Museum.
