Blackborough, Cullompton, Devon

Description

Blackdown Yurts are situated between the villages of Kentisbeare and Blackborough, just a short drive from Cullompton and the M5 in Devon. Located within the stunning Blackdown Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this tranquil retreat offers a perfect escape into nature.

We have four beautiful yurts, each thoughtfully positioned on its own decking base and covered with coir matting to ensure warmth and dryness inside. Buzzard and Willow are traditional Mongolian yurts, while Badger and Woodpecker were upgraded in 2020 with wooden-clad sides for added durability. Despite this modern touch, the interiors maintain their authentic charm, featuring hand-painted Mongolian poles and roof struts that preserve the traditional yurt aesthetic.

Badger Yurt
Badger Yurt sleeps up to six in one king-size double and four singles, with flexibility to store single beds for extra space. Overlooking open fields and the Blackdown Hills, it offers privacy with its own enclosed area bordered by a high Devon bank adorned with wildflowers. Furnished with vibrant wall hangings, throws and rugs, the yurt features upgraded mattresses and king-size beds, with all bedding provided and beds ready on arrival. A wood-burning stove ensures warmth and comfort throughout your stay.

Buzzard
Buzzard Yurt, situated in a secluded corner of the meadow, sleeps up to six in one king-size double and four singles, with the option to store single beds for extra space if needed. Raised on a wooden deck with outdoor furniture, it offers stunning views of the adjacent sheep field, pastures and woods. Furnished with vibrant wall hangings, throws and rugs, the yurt features upgraded mattresses and bedding, with all beds made for your arrival. A wood-burning stove keeps it warm and cosy, while the surrounding meadow, with mown paths, wildflowers and butterflies in spring and summer, offers a tranquil retreat. Though furthest from the car park and communal barn, it remains conveniently accessible.

Willow
Willow Yurt, perfect for a couple or small family, sleeps up to four and is set on a wooden deck in a private corner of a level field with lovely views, surrounded by a regrowing willow hedge. Conveniently located near the shared barn, showers and car park, it features a double bed and two narrower single beds, ideal for children. Bedding is provided and all beds are made for your arrival. One single bed can be stored to create extra space for a travel cot or dog bed if needed. A wood-burning stove ensures a warm and cosy stay.

Woodpecker
Woodpecker Yurt, sleeping up to six with one king-size double and four singles, offers stunning views across fields to the Blackdown Hills. Located in the main field near Badger Yurt, it enjoys its own private space enclosed by a wildflower-covered Devon bank for added privacy. Furnished with vibrant wall hangings, throws and rugs, the yurt features upgraded mattresses and bedding, with all beds made for your arrival. Single beds can be stored to create extra space for a travel cot or dog bed if needed. A wood-burning stove ensures warmth and cosiness.

All the Yurts
Each yurt's camp kitchen features a camping gas stove with two hobs, a small oven and a dedicated washing-up station. Fully equipped with cutlery, crockery, utensils and cookware, it has everything you need for meals. Each yurt also includes a Weber kettle barbecue (starter charcoal provided), a fire pit (with supplied wood), outdoor furniture and a parasol for a comfortable and enjoyable outdoor experience.
