Description

Hawthorne Cottage Caravan Site is ideally situated within The Forest of Dean. With beautiful views of the local area, it is a perfect base for those looking for a relaxing time and for the more adventurous wishing to tour the Forest, Wye Valley and local attractions. We are an adult only site. There are bird tables on site attracting many varied birds, with other wildlife around, due to being next to the woods. We do take dogs as long as they are controlled on site and exercised off-site. The site is open all year round. It is a 10 pitch site, all with hard standing and electric hook up. A Freesat box can be hired for £1 a night and free Wi-Fi is available.

The site has 10 well-spaced pitches, each with hardstanding. There is a toilet block (including hot shower) and a chemical toilet disposal point. A fresh water tap with wastewater disposal point is available. A small hut contains stocks of leaflets detailing places and events of local interest. The site has a large amount of birds and wildlife.

With direct access to the forest and woodlands there are many short and longer distance walks and cycle tracks available. Cycles can be hired from Parkend cycle centre or Pedalabikaway at Cannop. Canoes can be hired from Wyedean canoe hire. There are many places to picnic and eat out and lots to visit and take part in. Try Puzzlewood where they filmed Merlin, Star Wars and Huntsman. There are Clearwell Caves, Castles at Clearwell, St Braivels, Goodrich and Chepstow. A lovely drive through the Wye Valley will take you to Tintern, to the Old Station or Tintern Abbey. A ride on the Steam trains can be taken from Norchard or a trip to Mallards Pike and Go Ape for the energetic. This is not far from Soudley Ponds and The Dean Heritage Museum. For those who like a nice walk there is the Sculpture Trail at Speech House. There are local leisure centres which have swimming pools and golf clubs and fishing in several places locally. We are ideally situated to visit Monmouth, Ross-on-Wye, Chepstow and the Wye Valley. There are good local pubs where food and drink are available.
