The farm buildings have been converted into riding stables, with the horses and ponies being a highlight for many visitors. Burrowhayes Farm Riding Stables Ltd offers escorted rides for mixed abilities through the scenic Horner Valley and across the open moorland of Dunkery, Ley Hill and Selworthy.
The farm is a walker’s paradise, where cars can be left behind. Numerous trails lead directly into the woods and out onto the moors, home to red deer and a wide variety of wildlife. Younger visitors will find plenty to enjoy too, from the excitement of pony rides to paddling in the stream and exploring the surrounding woodland.
Lynton and Lynmouth, along with the mysterious Lorna Doone Country, are just a short drive away via Porlock and its famous hill. The historic town of Dunster, with its hilltop castle, is also nearby. The area is dotted with charming Exmoor villages, complete with thatched cottages, centuries-old churches, packhorse bridges, and traditional cream teas. There are also pubs, restaurants and a cinema close at hand, with Butlins nearby for day visitors.
